Does this bio-mathematics curriculum satisfy the course req for medical school?

I like biology, but I also really like math and programming, so this curriculum seems perfect for me, but I’m not sure if it satisfies the courses for medical school. Here is a list of the courses. Any answer would be appreciated.

Restricted Elective (Biology course with lab)

Current premed prereqs: 1 yr (=2 semesters) + lab (=2 semesters) of bio, gen chem, physics, and organic chem*. 1 semester English. 1 semester calculus (some require 2).

Recommended: stats, biochem (required at some med schools)

If you’re taking the MCAT in 2015 and later, you should know that it will include stuff about sociology, psychology, ethics, behavior, etc. There’s more info about the new content on the MCAT website. As far as I know, med schools have not updated their requirements to reflect the new MCAT content.

If you meet these requirements, you’re good to go for med school.

*sometimes the organic chem lab is only one semester at your school; this is acceptable for med school

The 2015 MCAT will also include topics in biochemistry. Early peeks at the new biological science section suggest that as much as 40% of the biology portion will be biochem questions.

Also to maximize your options, you may want to consider adding a second “writing intensive” elective since a goodly number of med schools require 2 semesters of “writing intensive” credits.

Writing intensive options will depend upon your particular college’s definition. It could be a course like technical writing, or an upper level humanity or social science which requires several research extensive research papers, or senior research thesis. You will need to check with your academic advising office to see what will fulfill a writing credit requirement at your school.
