<p>Does it count as having applied if the only thing I have in are teacher recs? I would feel silly emailing 9 colleges about application retraction if there wasn’t anything there in the first place.</p>

<p>Though there’s no harm in emailing, I’m sure you haven’t applied until you hit the “submit” button and pay the application fee (or get a waiver). If the schools use the common app, I don’t think they can even see the recommendations until you submit the application and they download it.</p>
