Does this enhance ones application?

…if I send a Hunter College and Baruch College transcript along with my college app? By the time I apply next year, I will have completed Stats113: Introduction to Probability and Statistics and MTH2003: Precalculus and Elements of Calculus. I am pretty confident that I will get an A+ (97+) in both of these college courses. Will this enhance my application to UW-Seattle by a lot if I am planning on majoring in mathematics?

Um…Yes.

The college applications I’ve seen always require you to send transcripts from any place you’ve taken courses.

Do they look at these trascripts to see if they can give you credit or do they look at them to see if they can help you?

They will help. Chances are the credits will not transfer unless you have enough to apply as a transfer applicant. However, be sure to check with the schools, that’s just my guess.

They may give credit or not, even to a freshman non-transfer, depending on how the school in which you matriculate views the courses in question. At my son’s school (WUSTL), he was denied credit for Carnegie Mellon’s “Introduction to Electrical and Computer Engineering” because it was not calculus-based – he then had to take WUSTL’s course by the same name.

Some schools require entering freshman to take a certain number of courses from them in order to graduate – and outside courses are irrelevant for this.

So, the answer is that it depends on the school and the course.
