does this ever happen?

do people ever major in bio at mudd and go on to med school?

Definitely.

yep. i know a few.

met someone doing that at ASP.

whats the percentage of people going on to med school? because in some other forum it quoted “if you want to go on to med school, mudd is not for you”
also, with the gpa’s ive heard i’d imagine its very difficult to go on to medical school.

Probably on the order of 4-5% of Mudd’s total student body.

i meant what percentage of the students who want to get into med school acutally get in from mudd?

Snag, I’m sorry, I do not know. I found this webpage that has some information regarding the pre-med program at Mudd.

http://www.biology.hmc.edu/academics/pre-med/premed.html</a></p>

Feel free to contact the professor they mention on that page… perhaps he can answer your question. (the professors are really cool…so don’t be scared)

“If you want to go on to med school, Mudd is not for you.”

I actually asked this question, and Slak gave me that response. I was a prospective joint bio/chem major, and to be honest with you, I think the only thing holding anyone back from going to med school is the GPA. The required courses can easily be satisfied at Mudd or at any of the surrounding colleges.

I can’t tell you much about the GPA, since I’m not a student, but current students at Mudd have complained about the rigor and the workload. However, I think the minimum GPA to apply to most med schools is 3.0. Mudders are smart people, so I don’t think the average person would have any problems with getting higher than a 3.0. Again, I’m not a student, so what I said might not be entirely true. Sorry if it isn’t. :(
