My parents are divorced and I live about 1/2 of the year with each parent. (they live 10 min. away from each other) My mother makes about $30,000/yr. Does this qualify as low-income/give me any sort of hook? I live a ‘poor’ life half of the time, and an upper middle-class life the other half.

If both parents support you, from my understanding, in the aspect of financial aid, that would not necessarily benefit you at all.

If you mean by perhaps writing about your experience, then I guess that would depend on how you presented that topic.

Hooks are usually things you have no control over, i.e. first-generation college student, underrepresented minority, legacy, to name a few.

No, but it will help you get a chep education at schools (state) that only look at custodial parent income.
