I work at a retirement home and I was wondering does this make my application better apposed to someone who works at McDonald’s or another job like that.
Any job would be considered valuable experience and colleges understand the need for people to work in whatever job they can find and fit into their schedule. Certainly if you have special experiences, make extraordinary contributions, learn valuable lessons from your time working at the retirement home that would be a personal benefit which you might discuss in your application somewhere.
I think that most jobs are as good as any other, unless perhaps they are related to your major, then they might give you a very small bump. I.e. you’re working at a retirement home and want to be a nurse or you work at a library and want to be a librarian.
