<p>It depends upon the school. Schools with low yield go pretty deep into the waitlist. But at schools with high yield, being waitlisted is as good as being rejected.</p>
<p>i don’t know if there’s a general rule, but the northwestern waitlist letter said that waitlisted students are encouraged to apply for transfer and have a better chance of being accepted.</p>
