Hi, I’m a waitlisted applicant. My mom told me to contact admissions and explain how I’ve been accepted into NYU and Lafayette with generous scholarships but Lehigh’s still my first choice school. She claims this will supposedly help me get accepted. I think it’ll make me sound like an arrogant ******. I’ve already contacted my regional counselor and asked what I could do to still show my interest, but I didn’t mention anything about the schools I had been accepted into. She told me there is nothing more I need to worry about, and that the most important thing is that I keep in touch with her.

Hi Samonuh, I know that sometimes Lehigh will negotiate an offer for an accepted student based upon offers from other schools the consider competitors, but I have never heard of them doing it for a waitlisted student. Showing interest and mentioning the other schools in a polite and respectful manner is fine, however, I am not sure the fact that the other schools accepted you would “get you accepted”. It would most likely depend on how many of the accepted student choose not to attend and where you rank amongst the others on the waitlist.

Good luck!
