does anyone know? i know they use fafsa, but do they also use the collegeboard’s financial aid profile?

They don’t. That’s why I applied.

isnt it a bad thing if they dont use it?

Good or bad really depends upon your financial situation. UW is a FAFSA only state school. So if you are in state and have a low efc you may qualify for Pell Grant and Washington State Need Grant along with subsidized and unsubsidized loans. This may still leave you short of the full COA. UW Husky Promise provides grant money to cover tuition and fees (pell & state grant) but I think living expenses (room & board, transportation and personal expenses) would have to be funded by loans or out of your pocket some other way. If you happen to have sizeable assets with low income to qualify you for the Simplified Needs Test you might be just fine. If you are UW caliber you should be applying for outside scholarships. UW does not give any merit aid to incoming freshmen. Once you are accepted into a major you can apply for departmental scholarships as in subsequent years.
