Does Wellesley take high school dual enrollment credits?

has anyone successfully transferred duel enrollment credits at wellesley? my high school does not offer APs and I want to try and get some curriculum requirements out of the way. Does anyone have experience with this?

Wellesley has a detailed guideline page for transferring in credits: Guidelines | Wellesley College

They seem stingy in what they accept and the amounts of credits:

  • Courses are eligible for transfer if taken at an accredited institution of higher education, as well as provided that institution can produce an official transcript with a final letter grade once the course is complete.
  • Courses taken at other institutions must fall under the category of Liberal Arts and be similar but not necessarily identical to courses offered at Wellesley.
  • Courses taken at colleges or universities while the student is enrolled in high school which appear on the high school transcript are not eligible for transfer credit.
  • Courses taught exclusively online or through distance learning are not eligible for transfer credit.

“Students who come to Wellesley as First-years may transfer in a maximum of 16 units.”

This is pretty standard for private colleges at this level. Accepting DE courses for transfer credit would be rare.

Although Hamilton is an exception, DE courses are considered for credit, and I personally was able to take advantage of this.

It seems Wellesley explicitly states their policy. You should check each school of interest’s website.

But would Wellesley give subject credit and/or advanced placement based on DE coursework, even if no credit toward the number of courses or credits to graduate is given?

For example, if the student took calculus 1 as a DE course, would Wellesley allow the student to be counted as fulfilling calculus 1 for a major requirement or course prerequisite and/or allow the student to go directly to calculus 2, or require that the student repeat calculus 1?

Wellesley, like many colleges, has a required math placement test and optional foreign language tests to place into the correct level. No credit is awarded, but material already mastered need not be repeated.

They also offer exemption exams in a couple of other subjects. Other colleges may be similar, but the details would vary, so the student is advised to do further research.
