I posted an advice thread and someone said that I couldn’t go into non-profit management after wharton. I don’t know if this is true and there’s no official thing on their website that says “NO” but I was just wondering.
Thanks!

----- I didn’t say you couldn’t GO INTO non profit management. I just said that it is a complaint of some Wharton students and applicants that Wharton does not have a concentration in non profit management.

Look - don’t take it from me. I’m in the college and I’m a bio major. I am involved in Civic House, however, and this often comes up as a complaint in the form of “If we want to build bridges and help West Philadelphia, why doesn’t our business school provide more non profit management courses?”

That said, the newest fad in non profits is to manage them like big businesses - so it might give you an edge. If you really want a school that has a program for NP Management though, check out Stanford, Kellogg (Northwestern), Columbia, & Haas (UC Berkeley). I suggest you call the admissions building and ask to be put in touch with someone at Wharton who can give you a clear cut answer. Don’t take it from the admissions office - they’ll say anything to get you to apply.

Can’t you create concentrations too? Maybe I create one that works?

Penn has a graduate school of social policy that you can certainly take courses at as a Junior/Senior.

Here is an article about a student with an MBA who has found it valuable in the non profit sector.

Wharton has many clubs and organizations to help students pursue careers in non profits.

I am not qualified to answer that question. I really think you should call Wharton and ask! It would even give you more to talk about in your Why Penn essay and show initiative. “I spoke with a … and here is what I learned… and here is what I want to do at Wharton…” It can’t hurt!

Thank you so much for all of your help!!! I’ll def do that =D
