33 ACT, 3.92 GPA, OOS (I live in Virginia)
Do you have an established budget? because even great scholarships at schools that cost near 70K a year are irrelevant if they are unaffordable. As I am sure you know by now, your nice stats are pretty standard just for entry to desirable engineering programs. To get the big merit you need to be on the top of the pile.The big merit that might be 30K a year might still leave 30K plus a year to pay. Make sure your instate application is sparkly.
Post #1 is accurate and helpful. You have a good chance at a pretty large merit package, but the schools will still cost a lot, although on a percentage basis maybe not dramatically higher than full pay at a state school, like Va. Tech. We liked both schools a lot, especially WPI, which we thought had a great vibe all around. Good luck!
