Does Yale do academic "recruiting?"

Usually, when I log in Cappex (scholarship service website), I have a bunch of messages from colleges I’ve never heard of, telling me to check out their website and whatnot. A few days ago, I noticed that I had a message from none other than Yale. Then, the Cappex website suggested this to me:

“Yale University is actively looking for students just like you! We would like to let them know that we found you and share your profile with their admissions department so they can contact you directly.”

My question is, if I “send my profile” does it actually end up in the hands of the admissions department or is this just another variation of the mass emails, and would it potentially help/hurt me come admissions time if I were to send my academic profile?

yale does send a limited number of likely letters.

Another variation of mass emails…

Wouldn’t bother

itsme123: Yale’s use of Likely Letters has nothing to do with the current context of the OP’s question. LL’s are a recruiting tool for super strong people who have already applied – not a tool to attract people to apply to Yale.

^agreed.

prior to application, yale is like every other school getting the name across your face to gain attention. target student group may vary for each school, however.

The “we” in that second sentence is the scholarship website, not Yale. I seriously doubt that the Yale admissions office actually has anything to do with this…

I suspected as much. Thanks everyone
