Does your life "end" once you get into college?

Please pardon my ignorance regarding college life, but I simply must find out how college life is like? Is it putting aside all the things in your life for a few years? Studying day and night? What if you were involved in a certain sport/hobby, would you have to let go of it?

Yah, you definitely don’t do anything other than study and go to class. No one ever drinks, socializes, does clubs, or has any fun, ever.

At least at US colleges it’s def. not the case. There is nobody to push you in college. You can study as much as you want or as little as you want. Your life could be centered around sports or have nothing to do with it. It’s all about the choices you make.

The only time you’ll ever talk to people is when it’s about homework, and ONLY if you knew them in high school. Clubs? Those don’t exist in universities. And who’s ever heard of college students drinking? Preposterous!

Haha, I’m only kidding. Life doesn’t stop being fun in college, you might be a bit busier and have to prioritize, but you don’t stop having fun. Of course, the degree to which academics consumes your life depends on the school you’re at.

It’s just about the exact opposite of what you think…

Your life won’t end, unless you go to Bryn Mawr where students fall asleep over their books in the dining hall…

I probably had a better social life in undergrad than I’ve had since. That’s not to say that I have nothing going for me now, but there was a lot available then that’s hard to get now.

OP is in for it

Well, I pretty much had to let go of NetHack, my overarching passion… :frowning:
But at the same time, my social life’s better than it’s ever been before!

Kid, life BEGINS once you get into college.

Oh, don’t lie to him and get his hopes up, guys.
It’s so cruel.
We all know college is 4 years of study-hell.
I mean, who goes out on a Friday night when they have a 10-page due on Monday?! :P

You’re right, apumic. I studied every day from sunup to sundown. It was like living on an intellectual farm for cripes’ sake.

I can’t believe it’s been almost 4 years now since my life came to an abrupt end.
I shudder to think…what if I never “come back to life” what if…what if…the end REALLY WAS four years ago???

Your life is just beginning when you get into college.

That said, I study much more. But you only study as much as you want to. If you don’t want to study, just major in something easy.

I second what GoldShadow said. I’m transferring out of my local community college to an out-of-state public in the spring, and I haven’t looked forward to something this much in years. It’s the next stage of your life - embrace it.

Depends. If you’re trying to get into law school (or med school, god forbid), you’re screwed.

I have talked to my friends in college (like 60 of them) and they all said college is infinitely better than hs. I don’t think the college even matters. I have friends ho have said MIT, Harvard, Williams, Upitt, and target state colleges like umich, and stonybrook are better than HS.

And, of course, if you go to a hard school, may god have mercy on your soul.

Hardly. I have more free time than ever.

Yes. You die, and are reborn again as an intellectual.
