I’m taking the ACT on Tuesday, March 3. Wisconsin, my state, released a state law that funds public high school juniors to take the ACT and ACT WorkKeys exams, and frankly I’m grateful. I’d assume this isn’t unique among states, especially because ACT has a special format for “State and District Testing” aside from the national testing dates.
I’d therefore like to hear stories of students whose standardized tests are paid for, whether those tests are the ACT or SAT, and whether those students are from a public or private school. I suppose that AP tests could count as well, because some schools might pay for those, too.
Please note that most states which pay for the ACT don’t pay the extra amount for the writing portion, so you may have to retake it for those schools which require that section.
According to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction and all my teachers, the writing portion is being paid for. I think it has something to do with the ACT replacing state testing, so writing would pretty much be required.
Michigan has the same thing. March 3 juniors will take the ACT plus writing and March 4 they will take WorkKeys. No charge to parents or students. We used to have Michigan Merit Exam, the ACT replaced it.
I don’t know if it’s all of SC but our public district paid for SAT and/or ACT depending on certain standards. I think they also will pay for the test you take to go to tech school
