Dinosaurs are awesome, beloved by children and scientists alike. We get our own museums, t shirts and Discovery channel shows ;)

Since many employers today request college transcripts, it is important to know that branch campus will be reflected on the transcript the prospective employer receives.

I’ve been following this forum for some time, and have seen conflicting information about this. There seems to be some confusion caused by tour guides who state that your “diploma” does not indicate campus attended.

I would think that those who choose to attend Penn State main would want that to be indicated on the transcript, as admission to Penn State main is more competitive that branch, and some posters on this forum have said that the coursework and grading at branch campus can be less rigorous, particularly in the sciences. That only makes sense as the pool of accepted students to branch campus is generally less college ready than the pool of accepted students at main campus. As I understand it, a goal of the 2 plus 2 system is to make those students ready for Penn State main by their junior year.

I would also think that those who hold a degree from Penn State main would not want the value of their degree cheapened by the lack of any distinction between main campus, branch campus, and world (online) campus. Just my two cents!

Well no one loves dinosaurs more than me. I wanted to be a paleontologist for the majority of my young life before I had an epiphany for medicine. Favorite movie is Jurassic Park after all. And that sucks that the campus shows up on the transcript. I may not be competitive now for med school. I couldn’t go to main because I had under 60 credits so I transferred to Worthington for a year. The campus was called the 13th grade at my old school because of its easiness. Oh well

To pamom: the diploma should say what campus the student went to. But what if they were 2 + 2? Will it say main because they graduated from there? Or will it have both campuses?

Just spoke to the registrars office. Campuses DO NOT show up on your transcript it only shows Penn State

Well, as of today, the academic advising transcript for current students DOES show campus. I would certainly expect the official transcripts to also show campuses. I suspect the confusion comes from people thinking about diplomas as opposed to transcripts.

^ Why don’t you and the others just call the reg office to find out?

If the comments in this thread are indicative of the caliber of Penn State students, I wouldn’t hire any Penn State graduate: Main campus or branch campus.

Do explain

Quote: When you finish your 1st semester at PSU Worthington look at your transcript this december. This what campus shows up stuff is foolishness. If worthington is the 13th grade then why go there? your not freshman staus, why couldnt you get into UPas a transfer? they wouldnt keep you out for having less than 60 credits if your grades were up to par? you would just enter as a 4th semester status or whatever semester. One of my friends daughter transfered from denison univ. with less than 60 credits and she’s at UP. sooo its not a credit issue. sounds like a gpa issue.

I did not know that you could transfer with under 60 credits. I’m going to Worthington because I’ve visited the campus multiple times and liked it. Being I couldn’t transfer into U Park due to credits, I decided to go there for a year that’s it. I was interested in the transcript because I wouldn’t know how med schools will react to Worthington.

Oh slipjig - as a geologist, married to a geologist, with 1 child studying geology … we really do like dinosaurs! :)

Does penn state have any paleontology programs btw grc

Im bringing this form back up because on the transcript on elion it says my branch campus. Is this the same transcript the med schools will receive ?

I know this is an old thread, no the official transcript DOES not say and has never said what campus you attended. I and all three of my roommates were accepted to medical school ( I was at Penn) after attending branch campuses. If we had it easier it was a smart move on our part those that attended main campus often said we had it easeir sicne we al got A’s in the 8 Med school required courses.
The ongoing transcript REPORTS you receive as you complete semesters are a grade report. If you want to see order an official one/
We all were poor and could not afford 4 years living away from home. PSU branch campuses have very smart peopll there as well, each person accepted can complete work at any PSU campus
