My parents are coming out to Boston for the wedding (three weeks!), and my mother sent me an email tonight asking me to look into dog boarding facilities for her Jack Russell terrier.

Does anybody have recommendations for a dog-boarding facility, preferably in Boston or Cambridge? It doesn’t have to be T-accessible, because they’ll be driving out.

I’m planning to offer to let the dog stay in our apartment, of course, but I would like to give her the information she requested as well.

Where are your parents coming from? If they’re driving to Boston from the west via the Mass Pike, it wouldn’t be too horribly out of the way to drop off the dog at Family Friends in Boxboro (on Route 111, off of Route 495). The phone number for Family Friends is 978-263-3412. If your parents decide to try it, they would take the Mass Pike to Route 290, then 290 north through Worcester, then 495 north, then Route 111 east. After they drop off the dog they would continue on 111 east until it bonks into Route 2, and then Route 2 east into Cambridge or wherever.

The only hitch is that Family Friends doesn’t accept dogs 10 years and older unless they are patients in their veterinary practice. My dog stayed there happily and safely until the end of his first decade. Now I have to hope there are neighbors not going away the same time we are.

I vaguely remember some place in Lincoln/Sudbury/Natick area… they lived in Sudbury and often used this place when they went on vacation… sorry this isn’t much help lol.
