Dogs - best in show?

“A kitchen mop won best in show.”

A roach motel.

Boston Terriers - or as I call mine - Boston Terrorists

A friend of mine has two pit bull rescues, however, and they are my new favorites. They are two of the sweetest, funniest dogs I have ever been around.

nj2011mom-
By your description I thought a komondor won best in show. THey REALLY look like kitchen mops [Image Detail for - http://clubs.akc.org/kca/images/rock.jpg](http://images.search.yahoo.com/images/view;_ylt=A0PDoX4lKT9PgnUAhGSJzbkF;_ylu=X3oDMTBlMTQ4cGxyBHNlYwNzcgRzbGsDaW1n?back=http%3A%2F%2Fimages.search.yahoo.com%2Fsearch%2Fimages%3F_adv_prop%3Dimage%26va%3Dkomondor%26fr%3Dcrmas%26tab%3Dorganic%26ri%3D17&w=450&h=361&imgurl=clubs.akc.org%2Fkca%2Fimages%2Frock.jpg&rurl=http%3A%2F%2Fclubs.akc.org%2Fkca%2F&size=19.6+KB&name=Komondor+Club+of+America&p=komondor&oid=301e3700d9d49d081fb77f90eb3d456e&fr2=&fr=crmas&tt=Komondor%2BClub%2Bof%2BAmerica&b=0&ni=80&no=17&tab=organic&ts=&sigr=10pd6h888&sigb=133q4f1h3&sigi=1115mnsoh&.crumb=vp3NjXnyM37)

Goldens are the best! And King Charles (my daughter’s boyfriend’s family dog)…All are rescues (ours) and golden (and other) rescues are the best. We also had an OES who was superb.

We will always have goldens and are slowly looking for a rescue Blenheim King Charles.

^our golden was also a rescue, through, but of course, Golden Rescue. It was the only way I gave myself permission to get a non mutt pup. Previously had only adopted mutts from shelters. We were so fortunate to adopt our golden at 5 mos, healthy and so sweet. Her temperament is just delightful…wish there was an equivalent human temperamental type,

Rescue border collies…and older dogs…and wish show dogs could be neutered, stupid rule

Is there a way to get a thread unstarred? My post from another thread was pulled into this one and I’ve always wondered how you can make it seem like you have not posted on a thread.

The very BEST dogs are mixed breed, pound dogs/rescues.

They are, of course, all unique, one-of-a-kind, custom made originals. (Unless you have the opportunity to adopt multiple dogs from the same litter.)

The best dog is the one that thinks you are the best person in the world.

But yesterday, the best dog was my Sheltie who ran her Jumpers with Weaves course twice due to timer glitch, perfect both times, and won her Novice B Jumpers class. And she won at 16" … even though everyone thought she’d be a 12" dog and that’s where we were training.

She came out of the ring with me bouncing and prancing and pleased as punch!

oops. sorry, I was thinking of a pic a friend had posted from Westminster. Actually the twin to my duster won best in show. (so not into small yappy dogs!)

It was entertaining exiting from Penn Station on Monday & Tuesday to see the dogs being wheeled into MSG (in crates) or walked in with odd coats on. I think I saw the Irish Setter that came close to winning. She was beautuful.

You are all off! The best dogs are Sammies (Samoyeds). Mine came from NISA, the rescue in the area for the breed.

We have an English Setter we got from the shelter because he “failed” as a hunting dog. I guess he is a pacifist? He is the sweetest dog I have ever owned. Good thing I like him because I take his fur with me everywhere I go!

the best dog… is the one you love right now!

we have had so many dogs over the years…we live out in the country and awful people dump dogs all the time… right now have 2 dogs and a cat…all strays. have had 9 dogs at a time before.

recently lost my Fluffy… he was a puppy of a stray … his back legs didnt work properly…he bunny hopped. such a sweet boy. He shed like crazy and for 11 years i complained about the fur! 2 months ago he came over to me, looked at me with his incredible sad eyes…and then fell over…died in front of me…still so sad.

There is a new book out, I haven’t read it yet, about a year in the life of a show dog. Happens to be an Australian Shepherd named Jack. Anyone read it yet? So many dog people on CC.

I might go to a cat show here in the suburbs next weekend. Haven’t seen one since before Sapling was born.

parent56: You gave Fluffy a loved and loving life. I am so sorry.

That’s about the Australian Shepherd named Jack that cottonwood513 mentioned above.

zoosermom- I read your post to H and he said that that you can have our beagle!

(Except that I won’t give her up).

The only dogs I ever had as a kid were the ones people dumped on the side of the road near our farm. I would sneak food out of the house and coax them to the yard. Don’t tell my mom though. She thinks they just found their way there. The dog I had the longest was lured with a bowl of leftover string beans.

Where are the fourteen inch Beagles when you need them?

We have an old, phlegmatic, one-eyed cat and I know that, if we ever get a dog, my husband will not want any “ankle-biters”. However, I found this description utterly charming (it’s the ears):
