Doing Business on "GSA Schedule"

I figure that someone on CC must have some experience with this! A company called GSA-South Carolina has contacted DH and me about retaining them to help us get on the “GSA Schedule.” Supposedly, any governmental entity that needs work done looks at this online list and picks a firm without going through the bid process (the companies are prequalified). Also, the fact that ours is a small business owned by a woman (me!) should give us an advantage. There are only two firms currently on the list in our state, too.

It costs a good bit to hire this company, so we’re wondering if it’s worth it. This is brand new to us, so we’re not sure where to start investigating.

I’m pretty confident that you could get yourself on the list without having to hire another firm to do that.

Of course, if you are so swamped with engineering work that you have no time to spare to do the legwork to get on the GSA list, then it might make good sense to hire that out. But more likely you’re interested in more work and have the time.

Just do some internet searching.

(I’m on a list in my state (not federal) but have not been asked to do any good jobs in the 2 years I’ve been on the list. I’ve been soliticted 3 times.)
