Doing Horrible in 1 class... how much does it hurt?

Ok so basically I have been doing well in high school, I am currently a sophomore. I get mostly A’s and a few Bs and B+s except I have been doing terribly in chemistry. I got a B+ the first quarter, a D+ the second quarter and I’m probably going to get another D this quarter. I am really worried that this one class is going to haunt me.

And I intend to major in English, which I have never not gotten an A in, I currently take AP English. Seeing as chemistry is unrelated to my intended major, how much will it hurt?

Should I just go balls out for IB physics next year and hope for the best?

Yes, it will haunt you. You need to do whatever it takes --including tutoring – to get a higher grade than a “D” in that class. I don’t see any reason for you to take IB physics since you want to be an English major. Prospective premed students and engineering students need physics. Other students don’t need physics, including to get into excellent colleges.
