Doing it all over again!

Well, now has come the time that I start thinking about what university I want to go to. I tried this back in high school when I was a senior two years ago, but failed miserably and I don’t know why. Right now, I’m a junior in community college simply because I’ve got a ton of credits earned. (I finished my freshman year of college in high school)

When I tried applying for college in high school, I got accepted everywhere I applied. The problem was that I wasn’t able to afford anywhere I applied, simply because they all had the requirement that freshmen are required to live in the dorms and I simply didn’t have money to live in the dorms and therefore could not attend.

So here I am, using the very forum that I thought was absolutely pointless. The colleges on my list are primarily public universities in Texas because of cost, and plus I want all my credits to transfer. Where I’m thinking, in no particular order:

Texas Tech University
Texas A&M University
West Texas A&M
UT Austin
Rice University
MIT
UNT

A short description about me:
-White Latino (As in, I barely qualify for what’s defined as Hispanic)
-19
-Still not entirely sure what I want to major in. I’ve already completed almost all the basic engineering track. I suppose I will do that
-College GPA: 4.0000
SAT I: 1620 (I took this back in 2012 the day after high school graduation, I doubt I will do any better since I’m bad at the critical reading section)
SAT II: N/A. Will take in December
-Have been promised good letters of recommendation from the entire math/engineering department at my college. Especially the department chair. I know each one of the faculty members personally. My boss at my job is also willing to write a letter of recommendation.
-Have accredited undergrad research and presentation experience
-In both college wind ensemble and jazz band
-Have worked 20/30 hrs/wk for the last year and a half all while going to school full-time.
-I really don’t have a list of ECs anymore since I work almost 10 hours a day three times a week.

I have pages of feats from high school like two-time all-state band that I could put on here, but I feel that if they didn’t help back in high school, they won’t help now.

This is primarily a just-for-fun exercise. I’m pretty sure that I will get into at least 5 of those universities. The problem is that I don’t think I can go to any of those universities since I doubt by May when I finally graduate from community college, I’ll have enough money to attend any of them. I do have a job where I make about $15/hr, but that’s still not enough. My parents are bad with money and unfortunately will not be able to help. They don’t even give me lunch money anymore.

I do have a backup plan also in the event that all of these universities end up being too expensive. It’s a university right here where I live. I just don’t want to live here anymore just because there’s too many bad memories here.

Oh well. Let’s play.
