Doing Postgraduate Year

I applied and got accepted into Interlochen for post-graduate year as well as their summer program both for Music Production/Engineering. At the moment I don’t want to go to college as after a lot of consideration I don’t think it’s for me, but on the flip side I wanted some formal training and education in regards to Music Production as well as the opportunity to be immersed in a musical and artistic community (I play bassoon, oboe, and alto saxophone and was hoping to keep building upon those skills as well). But after doing some research, I’ve noticed that many post-graduate year programs are built on the assumption that following the gap year you will be attending college. Interlochen has guidance counselors that work with you on college stuff and I’m just a little bit scared of what they might say if I insist on not going to college and if they’ll be accepting of it or not. It probably doesn’t make much sense for me to be posting here about this but I’m just worried that I’m not the target audience for this program I think I just need reassurance.

Ask them how many students continue on to college, and how many seek professional work in Music after this post-grad year. I expect that there are three main pathways - college, conservatory, career - and that the counselors can help you determine which is best for you.
