So I decided to do something different because I didn’t pledge during my undergraduate years. I was online and came across an ad for a “virtual brotherhood”, so I decided to read it. It was appealing, so I followed the process to “pledge”, which really wasn’t hard (or crazy). The group is based in New York City (and I am in Florida), and we do some “virtual” community service projects, as well as some where we support national charities and I work with my family in Florida to participate. I gotta say, I don’t regret the decision at all! We have a FB group which is how we all get to know each other and I have made some great friends. This is a CO-ED inter-generational group and they even have a group for teens - so my son can join when he turns 12. They don’t infringe on my life, but it’s great to know that I have a diverse set of “brothers and sisters” in different states and countries - plus we’ve done some cool service projects. They have annual events where members travel to other states where there are members, so I’m hoping that they’ll pick Florida next! They are actually finishing their recruitment this weekend (yeah I know, I should have said something sooner), but it might be good for those who don’t know where they fit in to stay in touch with this group- for when they start up again. Who knows, they may even let folks in now. The group is called Sigma Theta Rho (www.sigmathetas.org). You can reach the Chapter Leader Doc at info@sigmathetas.org to be put on their mailing list. I’m in 4 Lyfe!

Hmm. That’s a new one.

It does sound kinda cool though. Thanks for sharing! :D
