Doing well in a new university

Hi I am new to this forum!
This is my first post, so please go easy on me.

I spent a year in UC, and really dislike it. Beginning of last year, I started to think about transferring (preferably to Williams or Brown). Well, I have doubts about getting in :/

I want to ask to the students who transfered to these university (or similar level) from UC. From what I heard, these schools grades much harder; can you actually do well there??
(I have 4.0 GPA currently in UC, but I know it’s not too hard to get A’s in UC)

Thanks in advance!!

Which UC do you attend?

not hard to get A’s in a UC, last time I checked UCLA and Berkeley and UC-San Diego were pretty tough schools…

I don’t want any one to be able to ID me, so I am not going to say which. (I don’t attend UCLA or UCB though.
Thank you guys for asking though.

I would appreciate any information!

Well it is difficult, if not impossible, to make a guesstimate of whether Williams or Brown grades harder than your current UC, when we don’t know what your current UC is.

It helps to know it’s not UCLA or UCB, I guess. You might want to give us a sense of what “group” of UC’s yours is in.

Or, I’m guessing people won’t have much to offer on your question.

You could, if that happens, go to the individual school’s forums here on cc and ask what current students there feel about grading, grade inflation, grade deflation, compared to other schools they know of. Probably a good idea to indicate what field you are in.

no one will be able to identify you because there are like 20,000 kids at each UC

Maybe I am being too sensitive. I go to UCSD…not the best, I guess.

why are you embarrassed UCSD isn’t that bad of a school, its like a top 50 school, if getting A’s for you there is really that easy maybe you should consider transfer to a better school

If you get a 4.0 like you say you are, you should get into Williams pretty easily and have a good chance at Brown, but you never know with Brown their acceptance rate is so low it’s like whoever gets luckier among all the 4.0 kids get in

To ramennoodles08,

Thank you for your advice. I think I will give my best shot! Please wish me luck :D

To Andale,

Thank you for your information. I will search for Brown forums and ask my questions there.
