Dollywood

Has anyone been to Dollywood and/or stayed in any of the cabins in the area?

Although it has been a few years, our extended family went to the mountains/Dollywood each summer for many years. We all loved Dollywood and would spend one full day of our vacation there. However, we did not like the Pigeon Forge area at all and preferred to spend the rest of the time exploring the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. We stayed in the Wears Valley area, which is a few miles away between Townsend (advertised as the quiet area of the Smokies) and Pigeon Forge. There is a back entrance to the park at Wears Valley which was very convenient in avoiding traffic. As the most visited national park, traffic can be a problem, especially coming in from Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg.
Rental agency we used was [Pigeon Forge Cabins | Smoky Mountain Cabin Rentals | Wears Valley Cabins Near Townsend, TN](http://www.covemountain.com) , I believe. We rented different 4 or 5 bedrooms cabins each year. Their cabins tend to be more upscale, so if you’re looking for rustic, this would not be your best bet. Do be aware that many of the cabins for rental anywhere in the area can be set on treacherous, narrow mountain roads. Since we are not comfortable travelling on these types of roads, we always inquired of rental agency about the driving conditions leading to the cabins.
There are many rental agencies in the area, and if you prefer to be near the action of what I call the “strip” of Pigeon Forge, Wears Valley will probably not suit you, but it was ideal for our family.

Thank you so much!
