I was wondering if donating money could help increase the chance of admission to a university. I was thinking about raising money for groups like the ACLU or a pro-LGBT group, and I think I could get around $1,000-$2,000. Is this something that could increase my chance of admissions to a university?
Working actively and consistently for any charitable group or cause, including fund raising activities, can be a good EC. However, if all you do is help raise some money on a very short term basis, no.
By the way, you are talking about raising money. Donating money is when you give personal funds to a charity/cause.
Will the simple act of raising money for a cause increase your chances? No Will the skills you develop along the way make you a more desirable candidate? Maybe.
Nope… Unless that amount can build a new building like a science lab or something… Lol…
But doing work for the good to help someone is always a good thing. But do it for the right reasons. Either you believe in the cause or you don’t.
