Guess you can find a place to donate anything these days! One of my D’s had a significant change in her contact lense prescription, and she had quite a few daily wear lenses leftover from the old RX. Not in the original boxes any more (since you have to cut them apart to get the portion of the box needed for rebates), so can’t really return to the eye doctor. Turns out that there is a women’s organization that works for women’s rights around the world called Madre that will take them if they are still sealed in their little contact container and more than 6 months from their expiration date. Just thought others might find this interesting and useful.

Thanks for that information. With 3 contact wearer in the family, we are always left with extra contacts. I wonder if other organizations will take contact lens, I never thought of donating them.

The eye doc may take them back so he can use them as samples for his other patients & off you samples next time you need them too. Your eye doc should also be advised about places you find for donations & s/he may have additional suggestions. Speaking of which, I guess I should look at my expiration dates & consider wearing my contacts before they expire (I have dry eyes these days & contacts are quite uncomfortable).

There probably are other places, I just searched the internet and found the info on Madre on eHow. Looked at the Madre website to confirm that they are still taking them.
