Donating unused medical supplies?

I have been stymied in trying to find a local place (in the DC area) to donate several hundred unused, individually packaged single-use catheters. I hate to just put them out for the trash. In looking online, it seems I could mail them (I have a couple large, heavyish boxes, though) to groups that do international health charity work.

If anyone knows of a local organization that would take them or can recommend a place to contact outside the area, that would be great.

Did you contact your local Red Cross for suggestions? Or perhaps your health department? Or a local medical school that might have medical mission trips scheduled?

Howard County has a loan closet for medical supplies, my guess is other closer county governments would as well. Otherwise, give them a call if you’re willing to go to Columbia.

You could also check with local med schools that may take med students on humanitarian missions to underserved areas/countries. They might be able to use your supplies.

Doctors Without Borders??

One of these should work

Thanks, everyone! I found the first one in the link above, which is in DC, emailed them a few weeks ago, but got no response. I’m gong to try to call them.
