Don't bash the system

First and foremost, for all those deferred, I’m truly sorry and wish you all the best wherever you go (it still could be Michigan!), but please, don’t bash the system. The University of Michigan fulfilled every promise they made to you. They said ea decisions were going to be sent out on a rolling basis in December; they were. You knew going in that it was a holistic admissions process. The University can make any decision they want to try to craft the best freshman class possible. You also knew that 1. President Coleman is actively trying to downsize the University and 2. The number of applicants this year far exceeded any previous year. The admissions rate will plummet. Any stats of acceptees in years past don’t really apply anymore because it’s a new process. Nobody knew what was going to happen going in and as it turns out, admissions got very competitive. Don’t be insulted by a deferral from a highly selective university. Michigan came through on every promise they made to you, they didn’t promise acceptance. Again, I’m sorry to everyone deferred that it didn’t work out this time around but you can’t blame the University for doing what they said they’d do.
