Dont chance me. or chance me, if you want :)

This is about half my stuff, my essays should be fine… I was just wondering what are the important stuff the college look for.

please point them out for me, Thanks

Ethnicity?

Only Asian… nothing special

considering what Stanford did this year, you don’t really have a chance.

Umm, what am i missing?

theres alot of stuff i didnt include.

I was going to chance you and give you a long, detailed explanation/feedback but after reading the title I guess I can’t do that. See ya!

you make me frown as well =(

when ruskie said that you probably didnt have a chance, he didnt mean that you were missing anything in your application. He just meant that Stanford turned away applicants with stronger stats and equally impressive EC’s than you. I mean, you certainly have a shot with test scores and GPA that are in Stanford’s range. Its basically a lottery, so maybe you’ll get lucky and get in. Who know?
Good luck.

I have stuff like Summer internship at University of Michigan for biological research
job shadowing at hospitals

etc etc…

its late and im tired today, i don think im thinking right…
from what i can see, essays play a huge role. am i correct?

yes, essays are critical

If your essay is good you will get in. If it sucks you will not.

Thank you for all your comments.

I will be working on my essays really hard.

How many teachers do you recommend have it being read by?

So far I have only 2.

Any other tips for writing a good essay?

Thank you.

-YL.

hmm your background and stats are a little too similar to mine (I also got to America same time you did, and finally moved from dangerous suburbs to innocuous suburbs at end of 8th grade).
Anyways I have pretty much same GPA/SAT and I’ve done pretty much same extracarriculars as you minus the hospital and science stuff (hate science) and + a few more eng/hist. stuff. I got deffered from stanford but my supplemental essays were not… lets say my usual caliber of writing (procrastinated and had to be in another city for academic competition on due date). So my best advice is; write those three essays well, and especially give some specific reasons why you deserve to be in stanford more than any other college.

BUT… being Asian hurts alot i think since they already have lots of better ones in california so don’t really expect to get in. Good luck though!

welcome 2 the hotel california!!
u have sum chances man. but stanford rejects 2400s so… u neva know man.

your stats are very similar to mine and i got in scea
soooo ya definitely have a good opportunity, just (as everyone has said) write stellar ensayos

Definitely think you have a good chance.

God Sam. I just read your resume. I “wow’d”

But lol, I love how you only included your ACT :)

BTW, I’m still confused how to fit more information in the Common App.

Like my resume…where would I even put that?
