Don't hate her because she's beautiful?

Yeah, but she’s married - why is she looking for dates?

Samantha Brick cannot seem to remember what she has previously said. I saw her on the Today Show and she said she has close women friends. I thought she said in her article that women didn’t want to be her friend. I am no longer going to try to sort out what she really thinks with what she says. I defer to the other viewers who think she is just looking to build a readership.

She looks like Meg Whitman to me.

jym626 wrote: “Pippa and Kate are stunning and classy.”

That British scale again, perhaps? Of course, some called Princess Di a stunning beauty as well. If those ladies were/are amazing departures from the typical equine looks of the British royals, they are still plain to, at best, pretty.

You have high standards, Xiggi. Kate’s a beautiful gal.

xiggi, can you give us examples of women who are beautiful, in your opinion? I think Kate and Pippa are both stunning, and Diana was radiant.

I agree with Xiggi. Women including my wife have a very different view of what makes a woman beautiful than most men.

DocT, That’s very interesting. Would you mind giving a few specifics? Mostly, my husband and I agree, except I think Angelina Jolie is gorgeous, and DH for some reason does not. And he likes a fair number of quirky beauties, which I can understand even if I don’t feel it. We disagree more on what makes a beautiful man. While we both agree on Johnny Depp and Elvis, he can’t see the appeal of Ashton Kutcher. And as he ages, I’m coming around to his way of thinking on that one.

Interesting - my wife thought that Elvis was probably the most gorgeous guy ever (before he got fat). In the 70’s, I had to stand outside with her from 3:00 AM to see him. I doubt she finds Johnny Depp or Ashton (too immature) appealing. She does like Brad Pitt. I agree that Angelina is attractive but a little too slender for my tastes. The two most beautiful women that I know of are my wife and daughter. Of course my wife is more mature looking. I have had a number of men come up to me and out of the clear blue say: “You know your daughter is really beautiful.” I think that the difference between how men and women view female beauty (this is a generalization) comes down to men finding women who are sexual and sensual beautiful. I don’t think that most women see that in other women.

Yes, emeraldkity4, BCEagle91 has it right. I was kidding. I said that Kate pays people to cry for her when she runs out of tears. The truth is she does not pay them at all. They cry for free. :)

DocT: I think that sensuality is a huge factor in my opinion of beautiful people. And I’m not threatened at all, as long as Halle Berry, Heidi Klum or Angie Harmon are not sitting in my living room, flirting with my husband. Both of us actually like thinner girls. Both of us used to BE thin. I also have a beautiful (also thin) daughter, though I am not beautiful myself. So, who do you and your wife disagree on, that I can check out? And even though Brad Pitt is a beautiful man, I think that there’s a “too pretty” thing going on. Masculinity and that “rugged” thing save a lot of imperfect men. Have you ever watched John Cleese’s “The Human Face”? Very interesting series about how important appearance is. There’s a whole analysis about beauty, and how we react to it.

I think that Kate would look even better if she had professional makeup. According to reports, she does her own, and in my opinion she wears too much dark eyeliner and mascara. I’d like to see her in softer, more natural looking makeup. But this is just a quibble, she looks great even with the suboptimal eye makeup.

I agree about Brad Pitt, HotCanary. He’s too feminine for my taste. I don’t really see the appeal of most of the younger male movie stars. I think Elvis was very handsome, in the early days.

We disagree on people we know. She’ll say somebody is beautiful and I don’t see it. We agree on this woman discussed here - neither of us think she is attractive. My wife thought that Diana was beautiful - I didn’t - radiant perhaps, beautiful -no. Of course compared to that Camilla woman, Diana was a goddess.

As a man, I find Brad Pitt significantly more masculine than Johnny Depp who has a number of feminine characteristics. My wife first pointed this out to me. She also thinks that George Clooney is hot.

Fair enough. We don’t live near any goddesses (fortunately for me), and if you’re talking about people you actually know, there’s more going on than just looks. It’s more about how she works it than what she actually looks like.

Ditto this. The only reason I didn’t love Moneyball is because I think Brad Pitt is too much of a pretty boy to pull off being cast as a former professional baseball player (even if he can act, which I thought was debatable until this movie).

I kind of get what you’re saying about Johnny Depp. Some of his characters (Captain Jack Sparrow) are purposely effeminate. But if you’re talking about sensuality, IMO Johnny has it. Plus stunning bone structure, even when he’s scrounging himself up with weird facial hair etc. Brad Pitt has grown sexier over the years, I guess, as the “prettiness” eroded. Neither one is ugly, so it’s a matter of who moves you. I used to think George Clooney wasn’t good looking, with his chin and his self-satisfied smile, but I’m pretty sure I was wrong.

Looks are so subjective, especially AFTER you get to know the folks involved. One of H’s business associates is someone we honestly NEVER thought was attractive. Another of her co-workers agreed while he says most of the co-workers drool over her and find her gorgeous. We honestly and objectively can’t see it AT ALL. The person who was & is her boss left and divorced his wife & 3 kids to start his new life with this woman. It blows our minds! She is also causing his company to lose A LOT of business and employees, as she is EXTREMELY difficult to work with and unprofessional (yelling at anyone & everyone in public, including her new husband–the boss).

The celebrity I think is most appealing to me now, twenty years ago was too gorgeous for me to pay attention to.
I like some compassion & experience in a face & people in their 20’s are beautiful, but they are just so young. Now, he is just about perfect-( which means he has just enough faults to be real) even though I think he could use a fashion stylist.

I think both Clooney & Pitt are very attractive & funny- ( i also think they both are excellent actors, but i give Pitt the edge on role selection) but they don’t make me swoon like Eddie does.

I think there are a ton of pretty girls & women, who very well may be beautiful in person but their personality doesn’t always come across in photos.
To be considered a beautiful woman, usually takes something else besides good genes & regular features.
Beauty doesn’t depend on cosmetics or clothing- it comes from your insides.
Of course if you look like Penelope Cruz ( or her husband Jaiver Bardem) it doesn’t hurt.
