I was a part of 4 clubs, but I didn’t have any significant accomplishments or leadership roles in those activites. I have a strong GPA(96) at a competitive high school and I have a good SAT score(1470).I also took many challenging courses. I’m looking at competitive public schools such as SUNY Binghamton and Rutgers. Will my extracirculars hurt chances at these schools?
It all depends upon who reads your paperwork. I’ve always been a bit cynical about “extra curriculars”. In many cases, the people with the “best extra-curriculars” have just groomed themselves to look good. Working in a homeless shelter or something is all good, but we’ve reached a point when it’s easy to be cynical about them.
I think the high GPA and good scores suggest you’ll be a good student – and that’s ultimately what college is about. They don’t have any homeless shelters that need running. (I think).
At this point there is nothing to do but apply and see what happens. Put what you HAVE done in the best light.
