Dont know what scholarships to go for

I got accepted to uofdetroit mercy, and I need some scholarship money if I want to go. Ive checked out a lot of scholarship places but most of them seem like contests or only 5 people picked. Do you guys know some guaranateed scholarships or something that I have a good chance of getting?
Gpa:3.4
Ap and honors classes take
Played tennis
Go to a private catholic service so lots of community service done

This isn’t a good strategy.

If you need money to go to a particular private college, winning some small one-time scholarships isn’t going to work. Nearly all of those private scholarships are hard to win AND they are one time awards for freshman year. So, even if you did win a few small ones, what are you going to do for soph, junior, and senior year? Many/most are not renewable for following years.

What are your stats? What is your weighted GPA?

What other schools are you applying to?

What is your home state?

How much can your parents pay each year?

How much money do you need from scholarships?

The bigger recurring scholarships are awarded by schools. if you need scholarship money, then you need to apply to those schools. Some colleges have guaranteed scholarship by stats…

so what are your stats…weighted GPA, ACT, SAT (including SAT breakdown).

3.4 weighted, my school’s grading system is really different so its neigh impossible for me to figure out unweighted
Im also applying to UofM Annarbor, and wayne state
My home state is michigan
I will not be applying for financial aid
act:31
sat:
Critical Reading 620
Math 620
Writing 520

Your SAT is equivalent to about an ACT 28, therefore your ACT is higher than your SAT. That is fine, schools will use that. :)

OK…you say that you won’t be applying for FA. that suggests that your parents are able to pay full freight. Is that true? Can they pay full freight for UDetroit.

BTW…did you see this on UD-M’s website… *Every incoming full-time undergraduate student receives a financial grant from UDM. * [Financing Your Education | University of Detroit Mercy](<a href=“Apply | University of Detroit Mercy”>Apply | University of Detroit Mercy) IF that’s true, then you need to find out what you need to do to get that.

When were you notified of your acceptance to UD-M? Because it looks like you might get awarded one of their scholarships…look here on page 2, on the right hand side (4th, 5th, 6th rows of scholarships)… <a href=“Apply | University of Detroit Mercy”>Apply | University of Detroit Mercy;

mom2 is right; the big money is at the colleges, and that’s where you should put your time and effort. Look for schools that are generous with scholarships and grants, and where you’d be among the top candidates.

I will add one caveat to the UD-M statement that “Every incoming full-time undergraduate student receives a financial grant from UDM.” You need to be a little bit careful and delve into the details. That statement COULD mean “Every incoming full-time undergraduate student receives $1000 from UDM; we save our ginormous grants for the most desireable applicants.” I didn’t look at it, so I don’t know, but just be aware that not all financial aid packages are created equal, and colleges don’t necessarily advertise that to potential applicants.
