Don't understand what my mom is thinking

<p>Mom2collegekids, I know about a terrible feud in a divorce situation where the father did not want to pay for his kids’ private schools. I was startled to see that this same dad was contributing at a very high level to a local prep school where my kids were attending. Such is human nature, I guess. </p>

<p>I hope my kids are not looking at money I spend on others as giving away what they could be getting during my lifetime and thereafter. Brrrr- gives me the chills to think that they are waiting for me to kick off so they can inherit the bills I owe, LOL.</p>

<p>Exactly my thought, tango14. It’s obvious that OP is fully funded and that his parents decided to help a niece, knowing that his needs were taken care of. It would have been nice if they had talked all of this over with OP before doing it. Not a requirement–but nice. </p>

<p>The situation with the niece has some real potential for blowing up financially, though.</p>
