It seems to me that there’s absolutely no reason to put money in a Dooley Dollars account if I can use the Eagle Account for all food on campus, all stores on campus, not to mention several stores and restaurants in Emory Village… Plus, it says that Dooley dollars expire after May 2007 or something, so that would mean if you haven’t spent it by then, you lose the money… whereas the Eagle Account passes over through each semester and you’re refunded after you graduate. Am I correct? Is there any advantage to using Dooley Dollars over the Eagle Account?

Also, what do you think is the best way to get money for college? I can put money in my Eagle Account, Dooley Dollars, or my debit card. I plan to eat most meals at the DUC because I got the unlimited plan, but on weekends I’d like to eat off campus and go out at night… any suggestions? Thanks so much! :)

ohh got it… thanks dgeball. i think it’s secretly a ploy to get more money (because think about how many people’s dooley dollars expire without them even knowing it!) i think what im gonna do is split my money, half on the eagle account and half on my debit card

I may seem like a complete idiot but I can’t recall ever receiving information on this, so I have a couple of questions:

1) What exactly are Dooley Dollars and how do I have access to them? (I know I get $150 with the unlimited meal plan)
2) What can I use Dooley Dollars for? Are they just for food (if so, where?) or can I also use them elsewhere - such as the bookstore, library (copies, etc), or other stores?

Thanks to anyone who can shed some light on this for me.

Idc87, you’re not a complete idiot – there’s a lot to absorb! ;)

As Dgeball has mentined, the Dooley Dollars are those discretionary dollars you can spend for eating at various on-campus dining spots. It’s part of your meal plan. If you have Meal Plan A (21 DUC meals/wk), then you have $150 Dooley Dollars to begin the term. If you have Meal Plan B (15 DUC meals/wk), then you have $200 Dooley Dollars. You use your Dooley Dollars via your EmoryCard (just like a Debit Card)… ditto with Eagle Dollars.

Here is a blurb about Dooley Dollars and Eagle Dollars:

*Dooley Dollars

Dooley Dollars are an enhancement to your Meal Membership and gives you the flexibility of eating meals outside of Ultimate Dining at the DUC. Dooley Dollars work like a debit account on your EmoryCard with purchases automatically deducted from the balance in the account. Dooley Dollars can be used to make purchases at the 27 restaurants throughout campus. Your Dooley Dollars roll over from the fall to spring semester, but they do not roll over to the next academic year.

Eagle Account

Eagle Account funds are just like cash - dollar for dollar. This is money you add to your card for additional campus spending. Your Eagle Account funds are accepted anywhere on campus that accepts the EmoryCard- all on-campus dining restaurants, bookstores, vending and laundry machines, health and parking services, and for delivery from off-campus restaurants. You can add money to your Eagle Account at any time for any amount at the EmoryCard office. You may set up an Eagle Account without purchasing a meal plan. Also, you receive a 5% discount when you use your Eagle Account at any Emory Dining location. Eagle Account funds roll over from the fall to spring semester and to each academic year. *

To access your account information, sign on to OPUS, go to FINANCE and then to Make an EmoryCard Deposit. Half-way down the screen, click on the EmoryCard link. If you are doing this for the first time, you will have to create a PIN, which you will use along with your Emplid or your SSN. You can then check information on number of meals, balance of Dooley Dollars, and even a history of when, where and how much you spent.

NorCalDad: Thank you so much for that information. I guess that would explain why the $100 I initially deposited to my Emory card never seemed to go down when I purchased food - it was all Dooley Dollars!

Blaze: I had no idea there was a deposit machine in the library. I just knew about the one on the second floor of the DUC. Do you know exactly where in the library it is?
