Door stopper necessary?

I was wondering whether or not a door stopper is necessary if I want to keep my dorm room open–more specifically in Dickson. Is the door equipped with the ability to be “locked” open, or do you actually need to put a stopper under it? And if so, do rubber stoppers work ok with the carpeting?

Thanks!

I do have some experience with Dickson since I visited it a couple of times, and with door stoppers and other dorms.
I don’t think Dickson is slanted on the slope, so the door most likely won’t close shut, like the other dorms on North. The doors are basically stationary.

Make sure you’re doorway is NOT sloped down meaning that the hallway outside and the floor inside is not on the same level. 'Cause that makes a doorstop useless. I had encountered that in my previous dorm.
Rubber stoppers work fine with carpeting.

Thanks! I picked up one just in case.
