Dorm Bed size??

my DS is off to college in fall and since thsi is the WEEK of WHITE SALES…trying to ascertain what size linens to buy (thinking extra long twins)…he hasnt discided on which school…but is this the standard size?

yupyupyupyupyup

There will be more back to school linen sales in August, and you’ll know more about the furnishings and bed size then.

fun killer…don’t tell her that sheets are going and not returning.

XL twin works, but so do the regular twin size with deep pockets. Most XL twins do not have a high thread count so we have gone with the deep pocket higher thread count (400 and up).

This is the only thing I really ENJOY discussing about my babies leaving for college. Any time I start to get blubbery the boys just ask questions about their linens. At least they know me!

Knit jersey sheets will work too, they are stretchy. But my kiddos don’t like them, too sweaty.

Kat

ps DS#2, child #4 will be heading off in the fall, and YES I have started buying his stuff here and there. But his oh too cute quilt last summer. He will think its just some green and tan thing on his bed!

Please keep these discussions in the Parents Cafe. I will move this one for you. There is also an ongoing thread, started last year, that is a sticky at the top of the page related to dorm shopping issues. You might want to read through it, as it answers many of the most common questions and has lots of excellent advice. Here is the link in case you can’t find it at the top of the page:

Skyhawk, for future reference can you give us a general idea of what belongs in the Parents Forum vs. the Parents Cafe? That would help us put things in the right place to begin with and hopefully save you the trouble of having to move things around. Thanks.

Although XL seems to be the most common size of dorm beds, it is not true for all. DS was in two schools this year courtesy of Hurricane Katrina - one twin XL, one twin regular. There will be great buys after you find out which school and which dorm. Not to worry.

The shopping is the funnest part tho, isn’t it.

Ah. I answered my own question. According to the first message in “Welcome to the Parents Cafe” the Forum is for issues relating to college admissions and college life, while the Cafe is for everything else.
