dorm bedding/supplies

I agree that RHL has some very slick marketing. I remember being excited about every piece of mail from the college that my rising College freshman got. When I got the first piece of mail from RHL, I thought it was so neat that our college had a company that made linens for it! It didn’t take more then a quick google search to realize that this special company was shilling for a whole bunch of schools, marketing specifically for freshman.

Just FYI, I went shopping for grad school supplies today as I finally found out where I’ll be living this year. JCPenney has Micro-Jersey sheet sets for $27. I got a comforter set from BBB for about $80 and I am SO excited for all of it to come, I got a great design. I also got a couple of microfleece blankets from JCP about $25 each.

Congrats on going to grad school-hisgrace. That will certainly prove to be an exciting time!

As for the freshies being targeted by marketing by rhl(and other without a doubt), i don’t think it is because they don’t know anyone to ask yet-about whether or not the products are a good choice. Freshmen are going to need new things basically because they are just starting out. It is like anything that is packaged for people in new situations. Like those sets that you see in the store that have all the spices and a selection of cooking utensils-those are put together to appeal to someone that is just getting their first kitchen all to themselves.

The idea though that people get tricked into buying from rhl because they think that it is making products just for the college(because of the name on the flier) does not give people much credit. Most people have already seen things with their schools name on it before getting out of HS. When you order your class ring or get the school pictures, they will usually have a flier that has the name of the school on it. Anyone that is going into college is without a doubt computer savvy enough to look online and shop around as well as find info before spending money.

Hi I have posted the same question in somewhere else.
But I am wondering whether anyone here can answer me.
I bought TwinXL fitted sheet and 3-inches of mattress topper for my freshman daughter.
I have a doubt that TwinXL sheet would fit over her mattress+3-inches of topper.
And ideas or suggestion would be appreciate!!!

I would imagine it would. I don’t think the thickness of the twin mattresses is like the super thick mattresses you buy now. So if the mattresses is about 6-8 inches thick, with a 3 inches topper then the sheet depth is probably fine.

I also bought my son a 3 inch fiber topper,

Lakemom, thanks. I’ll keep TwinXL sheet for my daughter’s dorm bed.

When our D went away to school she went to BBB and bought everything. Now that my S is going away we just bought the RHL package. Hopefully the stuff is good. I (Dad) am driving with him to college and neither of us have any desire to shop for bedding.

As for the RHL deal, we received a few mailings from them. We also received a mailing from one of the sports teams at my sons D3 school. I guess they are receiving the $s for the RHL sales. Glad we could support the team. Hoping the linens are OK. Still have to open the box and give everything a wash before we take off.
