Dorm checkout

I am getting ready to buy my son (a freshman) his ticket to fly home for the summer. I am wondering if he has enough time to checkout, catch a cab and get to Ithaca airport in time for a noon flight ( provided he is all packed and ready the night before). Should I try for a later flight. I know he doesn’t have any friend’s apartment he can crash in. Should he take a room at Hillsidefor the night before. He is planing to catch a flight on May 22, the last day! Is it hard to get a cab to the airport that day. Is checking out a long process. Are there better places than BigRed to store a few boxes over summer (He has no extra furniture to speak of. Just some plastic stuff). S won’t ask other students for ideas . I know he can take care of things. But I am a worrier and will feel better if I can pass on some suggestions.

Thanks

dorm check-out shouldn’t take long - if his room is cleaned and ready and he can make it clear that he has a flight to catch.

my suggestions: storing small stuff over the summer…either he should get together with a few friends (one of whom has a car) and store in a storage unit, or send home with a friend going home by car , or consider dumping and re-buying next year…
