Whats usually in the dorms common room? I heard their was a stove, oven and fridge?

Which dorm?

For most, its just a sink, tv, stove//oven, table/chairs, and couches.

we bring our own microwave?

Sorry, add microwave to the above list.

how will we carry our minifridges to our rooms when we move in? will UF provide us with trollys?

Its a first come, first serve with the dolly’s. Most areas have around 12 of them during move in day for you to check out. As for the frig, you get one trip up the elevator so use it wisely. As for the murphree area, there is no elevators so you and you parents will be lifting up your frig to your room.

o…i see. so basically if i don’t get a dolly and the elevator breaks i have to lug my minifridge up four flights? how often do elevators break down? i’ve never i even used an elevator in the dorms :/

Another thing I should add is that the elevators are not open to residents to use by themselves. The RA’s have keys so they can run the elevator during opening. Dorms that allow you to use the elevator yourself include Hume, Springs, Beaty, and not sure (Keys and Lakeside?).

They dont breakdown often. I know they replaced the ones in beaty because those use to breakdown a lot.

ok so one trip up the elevator? wow…the staircase is goin to be packed. dollys are only offered on 18th, the first day of move in?

No, the dollys are always there to check out.

we need to purchase our own ethernet cable to access the internet?

Yes, buy your own cable.

Isn’t wireless in the dorms now?

Yeah, in the main commons area for each dorm area (where the front desk is). I know in some dorms across campus you can pick up the signal from the stadium? and north lawn/reitz? in you room.

Some people in Tolbert have had success in getting the stadium signal, but it’s a very low signal. Might as well just connect using the ethernet cable. You get the Reitz signal in the Graham area, but you can never connect to it. Too far away.

Yeah and some people in the westside of murphree can also pick up the stadium signal. And in fletcher/buckman, they can also pick up the chem dept signal.

I know jennings has wireless all over the building. At least that was what I was told.

My one friends ethernet port doesnt work so she uses the wireless connection. However when my roommate tried to connect it didnt work no matter where she was.

I have wireless in my dorm room in jennings, but not in our floor’s common room. Another girl on my floor couldn’t connect to wireless in it either. maybe it’s just our computers?

probably location and which direction u’re laptop is facing.

ethernet cable…i can get a belkins one at walmart right?
