I just heard from my kid who was living in the Fordham LC dorm last year that the dorm fines are starting up again - after a recent visit with a friend who currently lives there, the student was fined, because they’re claiming that the guest wasn’t signed out when in fact the guest was. The students in the dorm can be fined for any little thing at any time during/after the semester - whether or not a student is guilty of something or not!

If the guest was truly signed out, there’d be documentation and the issue wouldn’t matter. So I highly doubt the validity of this story. Yeah Fordham has dorm fines if you wreck the walls, break something–I’m pretty sure this is normal of all dorms. If it’s not normal, and a student can break anything free of charge, well that’s a little bizarre, isn’t it?

CBA321,
You are correct in stating that there would be documentation, and no doubt there is, and I’m sure the student will certainly investigate it thoroughly- but they do make mistakes when it comes to fining students, and it usually takes quite a bit of proving that in order to get them to back down, if at all. Both the student and the guest certainly wouldn’t want to do anything that would encourage the fine in the first place.
