Hello, everyone! I am currently a freshmen at a university. I have had roommate issues for the past two months. We just don’t get along. We have had a roommate mediation but it did not do anything. I have two weeks left in the semester.
Any advice on how to get through the rest of the semester comfortably?
Can this kind of stuff (dorm issues, living situation issues) affect one’s mental health and cause them to feel down in the dumps?
Since it’s only two weeks, can you get away with simple avoidance? (Eg do work on the library, hang out in friends’ rooms and basically only sleep in yours) Have you initiated the process of switching rooms?
On my phone so apparently I can no longer select text from your post.
This type of stuff can absolutely affect your mood and make you feel depressed.
Since finals are coming up you’ll probably need somewhere to study everything you neglected to over the semester. Why not the library which often has extended hours during the semester?
It’s two weeks. You’ve made it this far, just keep going and remember that in fourteen days you’ll be sleeping in your nice comfy bed, nary an annoying roommate to be seen.
Can you explore the process for a roommate change at your school? This might make you feel more in control of the situation and less hopeless. Hopelessness often contributes to feeling down.
