Dorm Meeting

I move in tomorrow and at 5pm we have a floor meeting with the RAs…how long should I expect this to last?

Meetings will often last about 15 minutes, 20 max.

over summer ours was like a hour and we got to know everyone on our floor.

fall might have been 5 minutes, pretty much “here’s the rules, umm, yeah that’s it. have fun”

My first one had to be at least 30 minutes, where we went over all of the procedures and then everyone introduced themselves. I remember it beng the longest one of the year.

It won’t last long, but no one will really notice if you don’t show. You’ll meet people with or without introductions.

It depends how much your RA likes to hear themselves talk. It can be anywhere from 5 minutes when nobody cares if you don’t show to over an hour where you get Talked To if you don’t show.

my RA talked on and on in our last dorm meeting. she went off on a major tangent and it lasted for nearly two hours
meetings arent that bad i just wish she wouldnt talk so much and would go straight to the point -_-

Ours lasted an hour, and then we had an option to play a game to get to know everyone. Pretty much the whole freshman class in our dorm participated, and it was very fun. The game was sardines.

It seems that depending on the class (freshman, sophomore, junior, etc.) makeup of the floor dictates how long a meeting lasts (at least in my experience). Freshman/sophomore meetings tend to last longer than junior/sophomore floor meetings for obvious reasons.

After my freshman year, I stopped attending meetings all together.

Ugh…I have to go to a whole thing called “First Day” which is from 10-11:30 AM, then there’s a mandatory bbq after that. sigh

*junior/senior

I don’t know why I wrote “junior/sophomore”

Our dorm meetings never lasted more than 20 minutes. Our RAs wanted us in and out.

a half hour max…unless your RA is an egomaniac who likes to hear themselves talk, they don’t really want to be there any more than you do.
