Are the dorms carpeted? Any good lists on what to bring for the room?

There is a helpful thread on what to bring in the College Life forum. Check this out:

Also, consider renting one of those “mini-fridges” for your dorm. They are advertised in Bloomington, and are really handy for keeping drinks and snacks handy in your room–so you don’t have to be leaving and looking for stuff when you are studying, or just don’t want to leave the room.

IU’s list is here:

[IU-RPS - Move In Guide - Things to Bring](http://www.rps.indiana.edu/MIG-thingstobring.cfml)

I don’t know if you want to rent a mini fridge. Buying one would save more money in the long run. You could always have a mini fridge if you get an apartment, and possibly even after your college life.

Vacuum is nice. I hated sweeping/renting a vacuum.

Most apartments come with a refrigerator. Now if you plan to move to a house later, then I agree that buying makes more sense.

Just a question, I wanted to bring my own desk chair but it says on the housing Web site you cannot remove any furniture from you dorm room or you will be charged.

I know the rooms are small so taking the desk chair would be the only option. Does anyone have any ideas.
