What kind of cleaning supplies do you suggest for dorm rooms? Cleaning wipes for surfaces, but what about the floors? I Also one twin is in a suite with a bathroom the suite-mates will have to clean themselves. So what do we need for the bathroom?
Well, you might be overestimating how much floor cleaning they will do. If they are carpeted, then a vacuum cleaner, which may be available in the dorm for communal use. For wood/linoleum, you’d be lucky if they use more than a broom and dustpan.
We?? Well, the twin needs whatever is used to clean bathrooms at home, presumably splitting the cost with the other suitemates. But you should assume that your kid’s standards for a clean bathroom will differ from yours. So if you visit, you might want to use the restroom at the gas station first - it will be cleaner.
Just buy a container or two of Lysol wipes. They can be used to clean the bathroom and the surfaces in the rooms. The floor? If there is a spill, they can use Lysol wipes to clean that up too.
This is one time when convenience products are definitely worth it. The easier to use, the better. My D and her suite mates loved the Scrubbing Bubbles toilet gel stamps as they minimize toilet cleaning - just stamp one in the bowl about every two weeks. Other products that got a thumbs-up: Lysol or Clorox wipes, Febreze small spaces air freshener, Clorox bathroom scrub singles, Clorox toilet wand with disposable cleaning pads, Swiffer sweeper with dry (to pick up hair on bathroom or hardwood) and wet cloths. Swiffer dusters will take care of dust on electronics and desktops. They still did not clean a lot, but this made it much easier for one of them to do it when it got too bad. Everything comes in pretty small sizes, so they could stow it in a basket under the sink.
