My son’s portable refrigerator, purchased last Fall, was stolen from his dorm room sometime within the last 2 weeks and replaced with a cheaper one that does not work. I had to purchase him a new one. What do I do? If reported to campus police do you think they will try to locate it? I do have the serial number of the one stolen.

Your SON should report it to his RA and also to the campus police…with the serial number.

AND he should now keep his room LOCKED at all times…no exceptions. And his roommate should as well.

He should have reported it to campus security immediately, why wouldn’t he have done so? that is just part of living in a group environment. Not saying that he should have expected to get something stolen, but reporting incidents as they occur.

How did they get in and was his door damaged?
If his door wasn’t locked, I would think pretty hard about helping him replace it- was there dorm ins?

That’s pretty unusual, to say the least, that a thief would have ‘swapped’ fridges rather than just outright steal it. Of course anything stolen should be reported to the campus police. Why wouldn’t your S have already reported it?

How could someone have swapped fridges without anyone seeing them? And sometime within the last two weeks? How would he not know when it happened? I don’t understand that. It should have been reported to the RA as soon as it happened, and should be done so now.

agree, this thread sounds fishy. note that the op does not have any prior posts.
