Current students, what are something you think are extremely important to have while dorming? Also, is there wifi in all of the dorms or is it mainly ethernet jacks?

WiFi in all dorms but ethernet is far more consistent and faster so use that if you’re just sitting at your desk. Hold on, I’ll get my mom’s college list for me, it was rather… inclusive.

BROOM or SMALL VACUUM – You might want to sweep or vacuum the linoleum floor or carpet in your room. Custodial Services cleans and maintains the common areas in the residence halls, but does not enter students’ individual rooms to clean.

BACK REST – For a variety of reasons, you may find yourself studying on your bed or in other unconventional places; in these cases, a back rest is a handy thing to own. It’s also good for parking on the floor and lounging against during late-night music/TV/gab sessions.

Thanks! Does Brown have some kind of storage area so I can keep stuff there when I am away (Like Summer…), or is it best just to rent a separate unit somewhere in Providence with friends.

Also is there anything that many frosh bring, but they absolutely or really don’t need it. Ie like some books and stuff like that?
I was wondering with WiFi because my cellphone uses UMA technology so if I get bad reception somewhere it won’t matter.

Best to use a separate unit in my experience.

Brown does not offer storage. Used to but no longer. There are maybe two ways to store your stuff for a decent price.

Modest, I notice “sleeping bag” is on your list… why is a sleeping bag needed?

It’s not. It was my mom’s list and she had some things that are very stupid on it and somethings that are useful I would have never thought of.

The sleeping bag never even made it to the car.

Q-tips are very bad for your ears. What wax they don’t pull out gets pushed unnaturally down your ear canal and can obstruct hearing or become infected. Ears cleanse themselves naturally :)

Just point out… haha
