Dorms (accepted/committed/question)

<p>So, I’ve been accepted (UCSB school of engineering, mechanical engineering) and committed and now i have a question:</p>

<p>I havne’t gotten to the housing part of the online acceptance but i can see it coming up in the near future and i was wondering if anyone had any advise or information i could use to help make a decision my rankings… i also hear that its very hard to get what you want and its all luck and things are equivalent , if those are the case then all of this may make little difference… anyway:</p>

<p>I guess i’m asking for some or any info about the dorms based on:</p>

<p>size of dorm/the state its in (new/old/good/bad)
type of people generally in that complex
location
anything unique </p>

<p>…if its really not a big deal because of the lack of control i have in choice…tell me…</p>

<p>any help would be appreciated, later</p>

<p>You can look up the “special interest” dorm floors.</p>

<p>There are plenty - Asian cultural floor, black cultural floor, rainbow, study, substance free floors, etc</p>

<p>Which dorm is the most quiet? I’m talking about thickest walls and fewest number of partiers? Please just share your opinion if you’re a current student, it would really help.</p>

<p>there is a special interest floor for that, the quiet floor, or you could go with the substance free floor</p>

<p>Does anyone know when can you start signing up for Dorms if you have committed?</p>

<p>It wouldn’t be fair for you to be allowed to sign up already. I believe that it starts after the deadline for the SIR. ;)</p>

<p>which one is the freshmen general dorm. I decided on it but i just forgot already. Francisco Torres rings a bell</p>

<p>yeah the all freshman dorm is francisco torres.</p>

<p>and housing isn’t first come first serve, so it doesn’t matter when you sign up for it as long as you do it by the deadline.</p>
