Dorms - Architecture

can you give us any idea which dorm is closest to architecture that you would recommend for freshman?

Dobie is probably closest to the architecture building. Dobie is an off-campus dorm though.

Honors dorms and Littlefield are probably the closest on campus dorms. Kinsolving, Whitis, and Duren are a little further down the street one way. Going another way are Jester, Moore-Hill, BRP, and San Jac. San Jac and Simkins are the furthest away.

just live in the nicest, cheapest place. you are going to be spending 95% of your time in the studio so it doesnt really matter where you live, especially if you live on campus. the only issues people have is living somewhere where it’s pretty far to walk late at night and they end up having to leave early because the buses stop at a certain time or walk really really far late at night.

people i knew in my studios lived in: duren, towers, kinsolving, dobie, castillian, jester, north austin, etc.

as these people said, if you are OK with Off Campus, Dobie is the closest to architecture

If you want on campus,
Jester, Moore Hill, Prather, San Jac are right down the road, probably the closest, and you can catch the 40 Acres bus to take down 21st (It’s like 3 blocks, not a bad walk really) if you aren’t up to walking.

Littlefield, Simkins, Kinsolving are on the oppsite side of campus from the Arc building, but again you can take the 40 Acres Bus and be there in about 15-20 min depending on the stops made

You do NOT need to take a bus from Kinsolving to Architecture.
It’s like less than a 10 minutes walk.

If you can afford it I would recommend Duren. Its placement isn’t the best but it is the nicest dorm on campus with decent location for food and stuff.

I don’t know enough about the Architecture school to say where is best, but Sutton Hall is about equidistant from Duren and Jester, but up hill from jester.

You don’t need to take the bus to get ANYWHERE on campus from any dorm. 15 minutes from one corner to the other.
