Ok I just went to spop 2 and it was really fun and when I took the housing tours of both mesa and ME I liked mesa better at the time so for my housing I originally put mesa as my first option. But after visiting and staying there for a night I kinda feel like mesa isn’t for me. So it pretty much sucks that it’s too late to adjust the housing info.

So my quetions are:

after visiting spop did your views on mesa change?

is it too early to judge on which dorm I will like better since spop is diff from the actual school atmosphere?

do you think mesa or ME is better?

what should I do? Suck it up? Or take another look at ME and see if I can get into it?

I put ME as my first option because I really liked the atmosphere there better than at mesa, but mesa was REALLY nice too. I would be good at either one, but you should really go after the dorm that you “feel” is best for you because you are going to be living there for a year. I’m not sure if you can change, but you can always email or call and see. There’s no harm in that. As for which one is better I think both have their pros and cons. I liked ME because I felt they had a more “community” like feel and I could totally see myself there. Mesa I heard had a better party scene and it was considered more fun, but I can’t say that for sure. Good luck and I hope you get the dorm you want!

-I was set on ME, before SPOP.
My opinion has remained the same AFTER spop.
-It is not too early, why? Because it will be too late, and you will have no choice in which dorm you want later.
-Personally, ME. But if you like comfort, space, party scene, go for Mesa. If you like convenience, closer to food, ARC, and to classes, go for ME.

If you’re having second thoughts about mesa, take another look at ME and contact the housing office.

Keep in mind that SPOP houses participants in the Phase I Mesa buildings. The newer Mesa buildings have a very different feel (although if it’s the community setting you didn’t like, well, that’s pretty fixed).

before SPOP I was set on ME, after SPOP I was still set on ME.

I’ll admit that mesa was pretty cool, but I personally felt more comfortable with ME. one of the reasons is that I’m too lazy to cross the bridge/road from mesa to get to my classes. and since i’m an engineering major, it’s more convenient for me to stay in ME. plus, it’s much closer to the ARC so I don’t have an excuse to not go there.

I will say this, I had a friend who stayed in ME last year and he showed me around. He loved being in ME and before I visited, I heard ME was more “home-ier” and mesa was more hotel-like. and to be honest, it felt like that. ME appears to be a tad bit smaller (well the dorms i saw) and mesa is more structured-hotel-like. I prefer the empty space under the beds in ME, and how we can move furniture around compared to the structured mesa with the drawers underneath the bed. just my 2 cents.

just go with what makes you feel most comfortable.

Personally, I didn’t like Mesa that much because it had too much of a hotel vibe for my liking, and ME is just so much more convenient for me. The party scene might be better at Mesa, but I’m not a party person so it doesn’t mean much to me. I’m liking what you guys are saying about ME, it really seems like my type of place.

You should probably try calling them about it, people are more lenient when you take the time to do it. Personal interaction is important and respectful imo. :)

Thank you everyone for your thoughts I can tell you all enjoy ME much better. I think after spop I don’t care which dorm I get into lol. But the reason I chose mesa was ya because of the parties lol. I’m in the enviro engineer major and I don’t mind the walk cause I love walking haha.

Edit: oh I realized you can still make adjustments to your prefernces on your housing contract site, sorry don’t have the link atm.

MaMoose :: yeah it was pretty much how ugly the phase 1 dorms feel I mean it’s nice but not to live in for like 8 months so I just adjusted the interest halls so I can hopefully get into phase 3 or 4. Only thing is I have general interest as my first and it has 2 phase 1 halls so I really hope I don’t get them.
